Hello people! this is a review for all the software people who want to get into wipro or are planning to work with wipro as employees. I have no personal grudge against wipro and have worked for wipro for about 3months after which I resigned!
let me get to the facts - wipro is a 40, 000+ people company, most of which are placed in bangalore. it has state of the art offices, infrastructure and great campus and training facilities. not to mention big clients, big money and everything related to wipro is really world class!!
so much for the facts. now id like to share my experience as an employee of the company. first of all, I was a campus recruit, just out of college and much to my surprise there was no accomodation provided, not even any idea of where to stay and what to do. wipro is one being big company which is so big that you begin to feel that the company has simply no time to even listen to what you are trying to say. somewhere down the line you begin to feel that youve lost yourself in the huge big IT crowd and are just a part of a huge labour force working in a factory that produces software!
to the pros and cons:
pros:
-----
world class infrastructure and offices and set-ups
excellent training departments that constantly keep training you
no problems created when you leave the company, HR is very helpful in this regard
cons:
-----
salaries are pretty less compared to the IT industry. which explains why most people dont stick there very long
work conditions are just okay. you get the feel that you are working for a multinational as well as a small business owned by a single owner, both at the same time
employees dont have much independence. you have to account for each and everything you do and all the money you spend
In all, wipro was just okay. I personally think that wipro is much more hype than it really is. Its a good company if you join at the middle or senior level but if you join at as a fresher you might get the feeling that you have been exploited. even salaries at wipro are just okay at the entry level. the management at wipro is not completely effective at managing such a huge workforce and ensure satisfaction among its employees.
in the end, this is just my opinion. there are lots of lots of people who love wipro and work there and they just love it. every person has his/her opinion and perception and I have just given you mine. I dont mean that wipro is good or bad, I just mean that wipro is not what I expected it would be.
